Westgate Resort in Park City Time Share
My wife and I were walking down main street in Park City when we were approached by a man selling nights at the Westgate Resort in Park City. He told us that we qualified for a two night stay for only $60 and that the voucher could be used anytime in the next two years. We knew there had to be some catch in order to receive such a great deal.
The salesman informed us that all we needed to do was sit and listen to a Time Share promotion that wouldn’t last longer than 90 minutes. He also informed us that their would be no pressure to purchase anything.
Since my wife and I love to take our kids up to the Alpine Slide once a year we figured it would be a good deal. We booked our trip the next summer and everything went well until we had to take the tour. They informed us that we had to take the tour and listen to the salesman talk about the Time Share Options to receive the voucher so that we didn’t have to pay extra for our stay.
My little girl has type one diabetes. Her pump was not working properly the night before we were going to take the tour so her blood sugar levels were high which means that she had keytones, which are dangerous. The keytones make her sick to her stomach and she starts to vomit.
I went down to the Westgate Resort‘s front desk to explain to them that I would be happy to take the tour but that my wife would need to stay with my little girl who was sick. The man at the front desk asked for my information and informed me that we both needed to be present to take the tour in order to receive the voucher, and they could not stray from that.
I reluctantly agreed and called my wife to come down. They had us leave our little girl in their kiddie corner. We explained that they would need to check her blood sugar levels every half our and let us know if she dropped too low.
We started the tour going to places we had already been to, and facilities that we had already used. The salesman didn’t seem completely upfront and honest as he avoided certain questions. When we tried to explain to the man that we were not interested in the time share he told us that he had to go and have someone else talk to us so that we could receive our voucher.
He then returned with the “hard core” salesman. He had a pushy used car salesman feel about him. He tried to convince us of why we needed to purchase the timeshare with Westgate Resort and how it would be the biggest mistake of our lives not to. He explained how great of an offer it was and that they wouldn’t be able to go any lower.
When we told him that we were still not interested he magically came up with a Time Share that would be an even lower price. We told him that we were not interested. He finally realized we weren’t going to buy from him and so he told us that he had to go get someone else to approve us for the vouchers.
At this time a third salesman came out and tried to sale us on another stay at the Westgate Resort the following year. Their offer was $500 for 3 nights. How is that a deal? I can find places a lot cheaper than that. So we had to convince this guy that we were not interested and we finally received our vouchers.
The entire process took over 3 hours! When they told us it would only take 90 minutes. To top things off by the time we went to pick up our little girl her blood glucose was down in the 50′s which is extremely low and dangerous and we had never received a phone call from them.
Overall I would not recommend staying at the Westgate Resort no matter what the offer. They will suck you in and not let you out.
